Steven Bauer

Steven Bauer
Steven Bauer's family fled from Cuba to Miami, Florida, in the United States in 1960, following Fidel Castro's Revolution, when Esteban was three years old. Originally intending to become a musician, Bauer turned to acting while attending at Miami-Dade Community College and then transferred to the University of Miami, where he studied in the Department of Theater Arts and performed at the University of Miami's esteemed Jerry Herman Ring Theatre.

Moving to New York City, Bauer studied under famed acting teacher Stella Adler and appeared in off-Broadway productions.
Bauer was given the substantial role of Manolo Ray in the 1983 movie Scarface, even though at the time he was a relatively unknown actor. The producers of Scarface were convinced that he was right for the role based on his strong audition, as well as his authentic Cuban background. His powerful and seductive performance drew a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Scarface has gone on to become one of the most popular cult films of all-time, depicting the drug trade of Cubans in Miami following the influx of Cuban immigrants to the area.
Since then, Bauer has appeared in such films as Primal Fear and Traffic.
